Agence Ecofin – La nation éburnéenne doublerait ainsi les 100 000 b/j de production du gisement pétrolier Sangomar du Sénégal et dépasserait largement les 110 000 b/j de production du Niger.
La Côte d’Ivoire veut porter le plateau de sa production d’or noir à 200 000 b/j à l’horizon 2027, soit plus de trois fois les 60 000 b/j actuellement produits. C’est Alassane Dramane Ouattara, le chef de l’État, qui a annoncé l’information dans une allocution mardi 18 juin.
Le dirigeant a indiqué qu’un investissement de 15 milliards de dollars sera mis en œuvre dans le secteur pétrolier du pays sur la période pour réaliser « ce bond spectaculaire », grâce à l’exploitation des 1,5 milliard de barils de brut découverts dans le champ Calao découvert en mars dernier.
Eni, l’opérateur qui a identifié ce gisement, a pour sa part annoncé en novembre 2023, un plan d’investissement entre 2023 et 2027 consistant à injecter 10 milliards de dollars dans le développement du champ pétrolier offshore Baleine, découvert en 2021.
Le premier producteur mondial de cacao table sur ces investissements pour renforcer son influence dans le secteur pétrogazier régional. À titre de comparaison, la Côte d’Ivoire doublerait les 100 000 b/j de production du gisement pétrolier Sangomar du Sénégal, récemment mis en service.
Le pays dépasserait également très largement le Niger et ses 110 000 b/j de production. De quoi conforter le statut de moteur économique ouest-africain de la Côte d’Ivoire dont « la croissance économique reste solide, à 6,9 % en 2022 et 6,4 % en 2023 », selon les données de la Banque mondiale.
