Podor – L’aménagement et la mise en valeur des nombreux hectares de terres arables de qualité ‘’peuvent aider grandement à l’atteinte de la souveraineté alimentaire de notre pays », a déclaré Babacar Diop, président du parti Forces Démocratiques du Sénégal/Les Guélewars, candidat déclaré à la présidentielle de 2024, en tournée politique dans les régions du nord du pays.
‘’La vaste étendue de terre estimée à 4 mille hectares que j’ai visitée à Dimat Walo (commune de Fanaye) est seulement une partie de l’iceberg’’, a estimé M. Diop qui s’exprimait au cours d’un entretien avec l’APS à l’étape de Dodel, dans la commune du département de Podor.
Il a relevé le ‘’manque de volonté politique de la part des tenants du pouvoir », qui ‘’n’ont pas aménagé ces terres pour contribuer à la stratégie de la souveraineté alimentaire ». Selon le maire de Thiès, plusieurs localités comme Dimat Walo existent dans la Vallée du Fleuve Sénégal et, ‘’n’attendent que d’être aménagées’’ pour permettre à de nombreux ménages ruraux ‘’de profiter de ces terres fertiles’’.
‘’Si les Sénégalais m’accordent la majorité de leurs suffrages au soir du 25 février 2024, je vais valoriser cet immense potentiel et également construire le pont sur le marigot le Ngallenka pour aider à évacuer les importantes récoltes de la zone’’, a-t-il promis.
La caravane du président de FDS/les Guélewars s’était arrêtée dans la commune de Podor pour rencontrer des responsables de syndicats d’enseignants pour évoquer avec eux les difficultés de l’école sénégalaise, liées notamment au manque d’infrastructures, de personnels, entre autres.
Dans le département de Dagana M. Diop avait échangé à l’étape de Richard-Toll avec des responsables d’associations d’éleveurs sur ‘’la lancinante question du vol de bétail’’. Avec ces professionnels de l’élevage, les discussions ont porté sur ‘’la transformation du lait et la capacité des producteurs de la zone à fournir du lait suffisamment en toute saison’’. Pour Babacar Diop, ‘’c’est une question de volonté politique’’.
A Saint-Louis, il a rendu visite aux pêcheurs de Guet Ndar et de la Langue de Barbarie pour ‘’présenter des condoléances et écouter les acteurs du secteur de la pêche artisanale menacée par les industriels’’. ‘’Ce sont plus de 600 mille familles qui sont menacées. C’est pourquoi les jeunes qui n’avaient jamais tenté d’émigrer quittent massivement leurs familles, désespérément », a-t-il justifié.
