Agence Ecofin – Selon les prévisions des parties prenantes, le projet gazier Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA), commun au Sénégal et à la Mauritanie, devrait être opérationnalisé d’ici la fin de cette année.
Malgré un retard de près de trois ans par rapport au calendrier initial, le projet gazier Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) impliquant notamment le Sénégal et la Mauritanie a réalisé des progrès majeurs pour son opérationnalisation ces derniers mois.
Kosmos Energy, partenaire de l’opérateur BP et de PetroSen, la société publique du pétrole du Sénégal sur le projet, a publié mardi 7 mai son bilan d’activités couvrant le 1er trimestre 2023. Elle y signale des opérations de forage ainsi que la construction du terminal du hub, et de l’unité flottante de liquéfaction de gaz.
À ce propos, la compagnie souligne le forage réussi de quatre puits de développement devant permettre de garantir une production de gaz naturel liquéfié (GNL) largement supérieure aux attentes initiales. Cette évolution est renforcée par la connexion, également réussie, du FLNG au terminal du hub désormais opérationnel.
« Le chantier sous-marin progresse conformément aux attentes, l’installation de la conduite de transport du gaz étant désormais achevée et les travaux de raccordement étant en cours de finalisation », a déclaré Kosmos Energy en ce qui concerne les opérations sous-marines.
Reste l’amarrage et « la mise en service de l’unité flottante de production, de stockage et de déchargement (FPSO) » décrits comme une étape « critique » vers l’extraction des premiers volumes de gaz de GTA et la production du GNL envisagées entre les 3ème et 4ème trimestre de l’année. Une perspective qui devrait soutenir la croissance de l’économie du Sénégal et de la Mauritanie à moyen terme.
