Apanews.net-Le Niger est devenu pays producteur du pétrole en 2011, avec la mise en exploitation des blocs d’Agadem dans la région de Diffa, au sud-est du pays.
C’est une grande décision concernant l’exploitation du pétrole nigérien. « Il est créé une École Nationale de Pétrole et de Gaz, en abrégé ENPG, à l’Université André Salifou de Zinder », a indiqué un arrêté du ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche et de l’Innovation technologique, daté du 26 mars 2024.
Cette école « poursuit une mission de service public à travers la formation professionnelle, l’enseignement technique et technologique, la recherche et l’innovation technologique dans le secteur pétrolier en amont et en aval », a expliqué la même source.
La nouvelle école est chargée, entre autres, d’assurer la formation de niveau licence professionnelle et master professionnel, ainsi que le perfectionnement et le recyclage des ingénieurs et techniciens dans le secteur pétrolier, peut-on lire dans le document officiel.
L’Université de Zinder, la deuxième plus grande institution universitaire du pays en termes d’effectif, dispose déjà d’un département en technologie du pétrole, mais l’enseignement se limite jusque-là au DUT et au niveau licence dans les domaines de l’exploitation et du raffinage.
Dans la Zinder, se trouve le site de la société de raffinage du pays (Soraz) et à bonne distance du gisement pétrolier d’Agadem, site d’extraction de pétrole brut, cogéré par la China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

Depuis le début de l’année 2024, Niamey a commencé à vendre son pétrole brut sur le marché international, à travers un pipeline de près de 2 mille kilomètres par lequel le pétrole est acheminé vers le port de Sèmé au Niger. La production est passée de 20 mille à 110 mille barils par jour.
