Agence Ecofin – Au Mali comme dans la majorité des pays africains, le gouvernement encourage les investissements du secteur privé dans la transformation agroalimentaire pour stimuler la création de valeur ajoutée. Dans le pays, un nouvel acteur se lance dans la transformation de graines oléagineuses.
Au Mali, le Président de la Transition, Assimi Goïta a procédé le 2 juillet à l’inauguration d’un complexe agro-industriel basé sur un site de 7 hectares à Sanankoroba dans la région de Koulikoro. D’un coût total de 14 milliards Fcfa (23 millions $), cette infrastructure a été financée par la Société Seydou Diogo Awa (SDA).
Le complexe comprend 6 unités industrielles dont une unité de production de beurre de karité d’une capacité de 100 tonnes par jour et une unité de production d’huile de soja, d’arachide et de coton de 100 tonnes par jour. A cela s’ajoutent une unité de production d’aliments pour bétail à base de tourteaux, une unité de fabrication de savon et une unité de fabrication de bidons en plastique prévue pour fournir 6 000 pièces par jour.
« Ce complexe entend développer, en amont comme sources d’approvisionnement en matières premières les cultures de soja, de sésame et d’arachide, ce qui permettra de créer un agropole et d’établir un lien économique avec les producteurs locaux », a déclaré Moussa Alassane Diallo, ministre de l’Industrie et du Commerce.
D’après Seydou Kéita, PDG de la société SDA, le complexe agro-industriel devrait permettre la création de plus de 10 000 emplois à terme. Au Mali, la culture d’oléagineux est réalisée sur près de 1,3 million d’hectares, d’après les données de la FAO. Le coton, l’arachide, le sésame et le karité sont les principales graines oléagineuses produites dans le pays.
