Malawi : La banque centrale veut améliorer la disponibilité des devises étrangères

La Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) a réintroduit une mesure obligeant les entreprises à lui céder une partie de leurs recettes d’exportation.

En 1994, la banque centrale malawite avait lancé un programme d’incitation à l’exportation. Objectif, permettre aux sociétés de conserver l’ensemble des recettes d’exportation dans leurs comptes libellés en devises étrangères (FCDA, sigle en anglais).

Cette politique a, par la suite, fait l’objet d’ajustements avant d’être supprimée en mars 2015. Toutefois, la Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) a récemment constaté, d’après son Gouverneur Wilson Banda, « un resserrement du marché des changes ». De ce fait, l’institution financière a décidé de restaurer la vente obligatoire des produits d’exportation.

Avec cette mesure « à effet immédiat », tous les exportateurs doivent désormais vendre « au minimum 30% de leurs recettes d’exportation » à l’entité offrant le meilleur taux de change, a précisé ce lundi M. Banda.
