Le président chinois Xi Jiping a annoncé lundi que son pays va fournir à l’Afrique un milliard de doses de vaccin supplémentaires, dont 600 millions sous forme de don et 400 millions sous d’autres formes comme production conjointe entre les entreprises chinoises et les pays concernés.
Le président chinois a fait cette annonce dans un discours prononcé lors du Forum de coopération Chine Afrique.
Selon le président Xi, ce don va contribuer à la réalisation de l’objectif fixé par l’Union africaine consistant à vacciner 60% de la population africaine contre la COVID-19 d’ici 2022.
Xi Jiping a indiqué que son pays réalisera dix projets de santé et enverra 1.500 professionnels médicaux et experts sanitaires en Afrique.
Il a aussi annoncé dix projets de réduction de la pauvreté et d’agriculture et le déploiement de 500 agronomes en Afrique.
