Le Cameroun veut attirer 3,5 millions de touristes contre 1 million actuellement

Considéré actuellement comme une destination touristique, parce que visité annuellement par au moins 1 million de touristes, le Cameroun a désormais l’ambition d’atteindre 3,5 millions de touristes/an, selon sa Stratégie nationale de développement (SND) 2020-2030.

Pour y arriver, le gouvernement indique qu’il compte s’appuyer sur le secteur privé national et les investisseurs internationaux. Cela passe par la diversification de « l’offre touristique et en promouvant le tourisme de luxe tel que le parcours de golf, les sports nautiques, etc. », apprend-on de la SND.

Par ailleurs, afin de promouvoir l’essor du tourisme, le gouvernement camerounais compte : définir et organiser les priorités d’investissement (public et privé) autour de deux ou trois produits touristiques phares ; se désengager progressivement de la gestion des établissements hôteliers et prendre des mesures incitatives au développement des Partenariats Public-Privé dans les services touristiques, artisanaux et culturels ; renforcer l’offre touristique notamment par la facilitation des investissements hôteliers, mais aussi par la promotion des sites et évènements culturels.

Toujours selon la SND, l’Etat va devoir structurer les acteurs du secteur du tourisme ; mettre en place un système d’information sur les produits touristiques ; développer l’éducation des populations à la culture touristique et veiller à l’application des normes dans les services hôteliers.
