Hier , Mardi 25 juin 2024, le Président de la République du Sénégal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, a assisté à la production des premiers barils de pétrole sur la plateforme Sangomar, marquant ainsi une étape historique pour le Sénégal dans l’industrie pétrolière.
Cette visite s’est déroulée en présence de Mme Meg O’Neill, CEO de Woodside Energy, du Ministre de l’Énergie, du Pétrole et des Mines, Birame Souleye DIOP, du Ministre des Forces Armées, le Général Birame Diop, et du Directeur général de PETROSEN, Thierno Seydou Ly.
Le champ Sangomar, situé à environ 100 km au sud de Dakar, est le fruit d’une collaboration exemplaire entre Woodside Energy et la Société des pétroles du Sénégal (PETROSEN).
Avec des réserves estimées à 630 millions de barils de pétrole brut et une production initiale prévue de 100 000 barils par jour, ce projet est un pas décisif vers la souveraineté énergétique et un avenir prospère pour notre pays.
A l’issue de cette visite, voici le message du Président Bassirou Diomaye Faye :
J’ai effectué ce matin une visite sur la plateforme Sangomar, où les premiers barils de pétrole sont en train d’être produits.
Je salue l’abnégation et le mérite de tous ceux qui ont cru à la présence de cette ressource au fond de nos océans et fait la promotion du bassin sédimentaire du Sénégal.
J’exprime également ma fierté après avoir vu à l’œuvre de brillants jeunes Sénégalais-es déployer leur savoir-faire au cœur de cette impressionnante plateforme.
Je réitère mon engagement et celui du gouvernement pour une gestion transparente et équitable de nos ressources naturelles, au bénéfice du peuple Sénégalais.
