(Agence Ecofin) – La Côte d’Ivoire est le 3ème transformateur mondial de noix de cajou derrière le Vietnam et l’Inde. Alors que le pays souhaite renforcer sa position sur le segment de la transformation, de nombreux défis persistent dans l’approvisionnement des usines en matière première.
En Côte d’Ivoire, les transformateurs de noix de cajou ont besoin de 60 000 tonnes de la matière première pour assurer le fonctionnement normal des usines dans le cadre de la campagne de 2024. C’est ce qui ressort d’une rencontre qui s’est tenue le 30 mai entre le ministère de l’Agriculture, le Conseil du Coton et de l’Anacarde (CCA) et des industriels du secteur.
Cette annonce intervient alors que les achats des exportateurs et les exportations de noix de cajou brutes sont officiellement interdits depuis le 7 mai par le ministère de l’Agriculture afin de permettre aux transformateurs locaux d’approvisionner leurs usines.
« Lorsque la mesure de suspension a été prise, les sociétés d’exportation avaient déjà acheté toutes les noix de cajou disponibles. Le problème est toujours là et n’a pas été résolu », a déclaré un industriel qui se confiait à Reuters.
Alors que les exportateurs sont prêts à fournir 30 000 tonnes de noix de cajou pour satisfaire les transformateurs locaux d’après le ministère de l’Agriculture, plusieurs sources de l’industrie mettent en avant un renchérissement du prix de cession de la matière première.
« Les prix que proposent les exportateurs pour le kilo de noix de cajou sont 95 à 115 Fcfa [0,15 à 0,18 $] plus cher que le prix du marché à Korhogo et 80 à 100 Fcfa [0,13 à 0,16 $] plus chers que le prix du marché à Bouaké. Qui va payer ce surcoût exigé par les exportateurs ? » s’interroge un autre industriel.
Rappelons qu’en Côte d’Ivoire, l’industrie a prévu de transformer 25 % de la production nationale de noix de cajou qui est attendu à 1,25 million de tonnes en 2024.
