Entre son entrée en production le 16 mai 2016 et le dimanche 19 mai 2024, Yaramoko a livré un million d’onces, soit plus de 28 tonnes d’or. C’est ce que révèle Fortuna Silver Mines, le propriétaire actuel de cette mine d’or située au Burkina Faso, dans un communiqué du 22 mai.
Selon le plan minier actuel, Yaramoko a encore une durée de vie de deux ans, sur la base de réserves minérales de 219 000 onces et de 61 000 onces de ressources minérales au 31 décembre 2023. Cette durée peut toutefois être prolongée grâce à des travaux de forage sur le site. En 2024, Fortuna a prévu un budget d’exploration de 6,1 millions de dollars pour la mine.
Pour rappel, la mine d’or Yaramoko a été exploitée dans ses premières années par le canadien Roxgold, jusqu’au rachat en 2021 par la compagnie minière Fortuna Silver Mines. Cette dernière revendique une main-d’œuvre de 900 personnes sur le site, incluant 52 % de membres des communautés voisines de la mine. Le gouvernement burkinabé a une participation de 10 % dans le projet.
