Agence Ecofin – Avec une économie en essor continu depuis quelques années, la Côte d’Ivoire a relancé le développement de son réseau routier, l’un des éléments essentiels pour accompagner cette dynamique et capitaliser sur les retombées de la croissance.
Le réseau routier de la Côte d’Ivoire s’est allongé de près de 57 000 km de linéaire en 64 ans, passant de 25 000 km en 1960 à 82 000 km actuellement. Selon Amédé Koffi Kouakou, ministre de l’Equipement et de l’entretien routier, la période dite du « miracle économique » des années 1970 et celle de 2011 à ce jour ont été marquées par des projets structurants pour densifier le réseau national.
Depuis 2011 les vastes projets d’infrastructures, routières notamment, ont permis « de construire environ 260 km d’autoroutes, d’aménager et de bitumer 1 500 km de routes interurbaines neuves, et de renforcer plus de 2 000 km de routes revêtues existantes, portant le réseau routier interurbain bitumé à plus de 8 100 km, dont 400 km d’autoroutes », a-t-il expliqué.
Les projets en cours devraient selon lui porter les routes interurbaines revêtues à 9 500 km à l’horizon 2025. L’organisation de la CAN a été un déclencheur pour la mise en œuvre d’importants projets routiers et d’ouvrages d’art, tels que le 5ème pont d’Abidjan inauguré en aout 2023.
Ces infrastructures construites pour réduire les contraintes liées au transport (coût, temps de trajet, accidents, émissions de CO2) seront complétées par le métro d’Abidjan en construction. Cela devrait favoriser la mise en place d’un système multimodal afin de décongestionner les routes.
