Selon le dernier rapport sur les perspectives de récolte et la situation alimentaire, une publication trimestrielle du Système mondial d’information et d’alerte rapide (SMIAR) de la FAO, également publiée aujourd’hui, 45 pays au total sont évalués comme ayant besoin d’une aide extérieure pour l’alimentation.
Les prix alimentaires intérieurs élevés, une mesure différente de l’indice des prix alimentaires de la FAO, sont à l’origine de niveaux inquiétants de faim dans la plupart des 45 pays, dont 33 sont situés en Afrique, 9 en Asie, ainsi qu’en Haïti, en Ukraine et au Venezuela.
Alors que la production céréalière mondiale devrait augmenter de 1,1 % en 2023 par rapport à l’année précédente, elle devrait se contracter dans le groupe des 44 pays à faible revenu et à déficit vivrier (PFRDV), ce qui augmentera les besoins d’importation, selon le rapport.
Le rapport trimestriel offre des informations détaillées sur l’insécurité alimentaire et les tendances des prix auxquelles les personnes sont confrontées sur le terrain dans les pays touchés. Il fournit également une évaluation détaillée de la production régionale et des perspectives commerciales dans le monde.
