La Direction de la protection des végétaux (DPV) de Kaffrine (centre), a déclaré vendredi, avoir traité plusieurs champs contre les ravageurs, équivalents à une superficie de 19 mille hectares lors de la dernière campagne agricole, a appris l’APS.
“Pour la campagne passée, la DPV a traité plus de 19 mille hectares dans la région de Kaffrine et parmi les départements les plus touchés c’est Malem Hodar qui vient en tête”, a soutenu son chef de base à Kaffrine, Abdoulaye Sène, ajoutant que le département de Malem est suivi par Koungheul et Kaffrine.
S’exprimant au terme d’une réunion du Comité régional de développement (CRD) sur la situation de la campagne agricole de 2022, M. Sène a indiqué que le département de Birkelane a été le moins touché par les ravageurs des champs.
“La DPV a déployé 6 unités de traitement dans la région particulièrement dans la zone de Khelcom qui était la plus touchée par les attaques de ravageurs”, a-t-il fait savoir.
L’année passée, selon le représentant de la DPV à Kaffrine, un produit bio a été utilisé pour lutter contre une espèce d’insecte ravageur particulièrement présente dans la région sur une superficie de 1000 hectares.
Ce qui a permis d’après Abdoulaye Sène d’avoir une accalmie durant la période de la saison sèche 2022 surtout au niveau de la commune de Khelcom.
