Un projet dénommé “Jeunesse en agriculture” ambitionne de former en une année 3.000 jeunes de la région de Thiès au développement positif, dans le cadre d’un programme universitaire axé sur le développement communautaire.
Le programme “4-H”, développé à ses origines par le milieu universitaire aux Etats-Unis, est un concept renvoyant aux termes anglais Hand (main), Heart (cœur), Head (tête), Health (santé).
Il cherche à valoriser l’appartenance à une communauté, la maîtrise dans toute entreprise, l’indépendance et la générosité, en vue d’atteindre le développement communautaire, par l’agriculture notamment et à travers les compétences de vie des jeunes, via une gamme d’activités.
Financé par Feed the Future de l’USAID, le programme “4 H” repose sur le développement positif des jeunes (DPJ), leur faisant prendre conscience que grâce à leur leadership et à la science, ils peuvent se réaliser et changer leur environnement.
Il s’appuie sur les cinq universités du Sénégal pour former des jeunes issus de diverses catégories socioprofessionnelles, regroupés dans des clubs.
Ce programme coordonné par l’Université Iba Der Thiam de Thiès (UIDT) a été lancé jeudi en présence d’organisations communautaires de base et services déconcentrés dédiés au développement communautaire et à la jeunesse, ainsi que des enseignants et chefs d’établissements scolaires.
“A Thiès, nous visons 3.000 jeunes qui seront formés sur le 4 H, le développement positif, sur comment arriver à un changement positif dans notre environnement”, a indiqué Idrissa Wade, enseignant-chercheur à l’Ecole nationale supérieure en agriculture (ENSA).
Selon lui, les associations de femmes et les chefs d’établissements constitueront des relais pour faciliter l’atteinte de ce résultat.
Ce concept renvoie aux termes anglais Hand (main), Heart (cœur), Head (tête), Health (santé). Il cherche à valoriser l’appartenance à une communauté, la maîtrise dans toute entreprise, l’indépendance et la générosité.
Au-delà des universités de Dakar, Saint-Louis, du Sine-Saloum, de Thiès et de Ziguinchor, l’objectif du projet est de faire essaimer des clubs à travers l’ensemble du pays, grâce à une formation en cascade.
