Ces dernières années, le marché africain du streaming et de la vidéo à la demande sort de sa phase embryonnaire. Pour de nombreux observateurs, le secteur génèrera bientôt d’importants revenus.
En Afrique, le contenu audiovisuel accessible en streaming et à la demande va créer des revenus de l’ordre de 2 milliards $ d’ici 2027, selon les estimations du cabinet américain Digital TV Research. L’information a été diffusée dans le rapport « Africa OTT TV and Video Forecasts publié par l’entreprise».
« L’Afrique du Sud et le Nigeria représenteront ensemble 56 % du total d’ici 2027, laissant 896 millions $ répartis entre les 33 autres pays. Les revenus de la SVOD atteindront 1,66 milliard $ en 2027, contre 476 millions $ en 2021 », assure le cabinet.
Il y a quelques jours, les experts du cabinet digital TV Research avaient annoncé que les abonnements aux plateformes over the top en Afrique passeraient à 13,72 millions d’ici 2027, contre 4,89 millions fin 2021. Beaucoup se sont alors interrogés sur l’impact de cette croissance au niveau des revenus.
Le rapport annonce également que 47 % des abonnements à l’horizon 2027 feront partie du parc de Netflix. De quoi s’interroger sur le parc des plateformes africaines comme Showmax et leurs parts de revenus.
