Philippe Wang, le vice-président de Huawei Afrique du Nord, a exprimé le 21 janvier 2020 la volonté de l’entreprise de travailler avec des partenaires marocains pour lancer la 5G dans le pays.
Il s’exprimait ainsi à Beijing, face à la délégation d’hommes d’affaires marocains dirigée par l’ambassade de Chine au Maroc, venue visiter le centre de services de Huawei.
D’après le groupe technologique chinois, cette collaboration dans la 5G devrait rapprocher davantage le pays de son ambition de transformation numérique et d’être un centre technologique en Afrique. Une ambition dans laquelle Huawei apporte déjà son soutien au Maroc à travers divers investissements.
La société chinoise s’est en effet déjà engagée auprès de huit universités marocaines pour la formation de 12 000 étudiants dans le secteur des technologies de l’information et de la communication pour d’une période de trois années. Elle veut également accompagner l’administration publique dans la numérisation de leurs services.
La proposition de collaboration exprimée par Huawei au Maroc n’est pas fortuite. Elle traduit également l’intérêt que le groupe technologique porte au pays en tant que marché à forts potentiels, jouissant d’une stabilité politique, d’un développement économique appréciable, d’une infrastructure assez fournie et d’une ressource humaine qualifiée. Des atouts qui ont d’ailleurs prévalu dans le choix du pays pour abriter dès 2018 son centre régional pour l’Afrique du Nord.
