Avec un tracé de 37,4 km, 18 stations, 21 ponts ferroviaires et une fréquentation estimée à 540 000 passagers par jour, le métro d’Abidjan est un projet ambitieux dont la première rame est prévue pour 2025.
Le métro permettra notamment de réduire les embouteillages dans cette métropole qui compte cinq millions d’habitants. “Face à la congestion du grand Abidjan, qui constitue à la fois un facteur de nuisance pour les populations et handicape la productivité, notre action s’est focalisée sur le renforcement du transport lagunaire, l’accélération du projet BRT et du métro d’Abidjan. Celui-ci est entré dans sa phase opérationnelle avec la libération des emprises”, soutient le Premier ministre Patrick Archi.
Construit par Bouygues et exploité par Keolis avec du matériel roulant d’Alstom, le projet est estimé à plus de 1,3 milliards de dollars. Un coût jugé excessif par certains observateurs économiques.
Rentabilité
Le Premier ministre ivoirien tient toutefois à rassurer sur sa rentabilité. “C’est un partenariat public-privé (PPP). C’est un modèle économique dans lequel le ticket rembourse l’investissement qui a été fait. On est dans une logique où on calcule également la mobilisation pour les transports publics que nous sommes amenés à financer.”
Il y a deux ans, la France s’était engagée à couvrir le contrat par un mélange de prêts du Trésor français ainsi que des financements privés garantis par l’Etat français.
