La NSA, l’agence de renseignement militaire américaine, a attribué à Amazon un mégacontrat de cloud, de 10 milliards de dollars. Son concurrent Microsoft conteste ce choix et annonce avoir déposé une plainte administrative devant l’agence du Congrès, le GAO, organisme en charge du contrôle du budget fédéral des États-Unis.
Selon le site d’information spécialisé Nextgov, la NSA a retenu Amazon et son infrastructure Web Service. Le géant du commerce en ligne et des technologies, leader mondial du cloud, était en concurrence avec Microsoft et sa plateforme de cloud Azure.
Mais Microsoft conteste l’attribution du contrat à Amazon et annonce avoir déposé un recours devant l’agence du Congrès chargée de contrôler le budget fédéral des États-Unis.
Animosité de Trump contre Bezos
Les deux voisins de Seattle se sont déjà disputés pendant près de deux ans un autre mégacontrat de cloud de 10 milliards, attribué par le département américain à la Défense à Microsoft en 2019, aux dépens d’Amazon. Début juillet, le Pentagone l’a annulé et a annoncé qu’il engagerait plusieurs compagnies à la place, à commencer par les deux rivaux, qui dominent le marché mondial de l’informatique à distance.
Amazon accusait notamment l’ex-président américain Donald Trump d’avoir piloté le choix du Pentagone en raison de son animosité envers Jeff Bezos, son fondateur. Ce dernier est aussi propriétaire du Washington Post, un quotidien qui a publié de nombreuses enquêtes sur l’ex-locataire de la Maison Blanche.
